officially...

starting a course @ Central Saint Martins!

(the best Christmas present I could have)

I couldn't be happier about attending a course in such a well-known faculty! Besides, I'm really enjoying my ten days in Viana do Castelo (my hometown). It's been great, priceless I'd say, to meet old friends and family. That's why I haven't been able to daily update my blog in the past few days (I wish I could stretch time, but i can't) - hope you understand that.

Anyway, here in Portugal, today is a big day. We celebrate Christmas with our family and friends and spend Christmas Eve getting fat, i.e., eating all night.:) All in all, I simply adore it. I love carefully selecting the gifts, choosing the wrapping paper, wrapping them, having my family around, eating caloric food without any regrets, I mean, what's there not to like it?!

This Christmas will be special to me, since it will be the first Christmas I'm going to spend with Mr. Bubbly (at least we'll be together after dinner and that's new for us). And also, I have to say big "Thanks" to Mr. Bubbly, for all the support he's been giving to me when it comes to my return to the faculty in London!

So, for all my BB,

HAVE A MERRY CHRISTMAS!
:)

Oficialmente...

:)

"A squirrel attacked me!"

This could have been a statement taken from a horror movie. Or, NAAAAAH! It was just what my boyfriend told me on the phone, after playing a football match with his coworkers at Regent's Park. And, no, it was no joke! From what I gathered, he was trying to fool a fat chubby squirrel - let's call him "Mike" (I don't know, when I picture it, I just feel his name's Mike), - by holding a bunch of dried leaves to pretend he was going to feed him. Mike approached his hand and bit his finger. WoW! Never heard of squirrel offenders before, but Mike sure proved his point:

NEVER FOOL A FAT CHUBBY SQUIRREL!
(ESPECIALLY IF HE'S CALLED MIKE!!!)

"Um esquilo atacou-me!"

...and tomorrow...

PORTUGAL, here we coooooome!

:)

We already managed to buy almost all our Christmas presents yesterday (that's why I didn't even have time to post in the blog) and today we'll finish with the Christmas shopping and will be preparing all the final details for our trip tomorrow, such as packing - this will be my greatest adventure for sure.

I almost forgot to tell you: it snowed in London yesterday (only for 10 minutes or so)! Though it was more or less like a demo of a real snowy day, I really enjoyed it. Childish me!

Well, and now, time for Christmas shopping and for buying the National Express tickets.:)

I'll leave you with some photos of my beautiful hometown, Viana do Castelo, where I'm going for Christmas.

...e amanhã...

Portugal, aqui vamos nós!

:)

shopping frenzy (6)

i miss my dogs SOOOO MUUUUCH

My latest shopping afternoon was in Colchester. Since then, no shopping for me.:( I just don't seem to have enough time for that. Today I'll share the earrings I bought there at TOPSHOP, by Freedom. I also bought a dress, a 70s-inspired top and some other accessories, but I'll leave it for another time.

I love 70s/80s-inspired jewelry and

taking some time to read... (1)

THESE!

I'm one of those people who can't read a book or a magazine without taking notes. This happens particularly with fashion magazines and novels, which means I will take a while to read these precious little ones.

:)

there's nothing in the world like our friends

I didn't have to move to London to know the good friends I have. I must be one of the luckiest people in the world. I now have new friends in London, and these are amazing people (yes, you are!), with such different motivations, ambitious dreams, future plans and projects which may be different from mine, but which I believe they will succeed in. I am very proud of calling you "friends". Thanks for everything: the friendship, the jokes, the well-spent time, the fun, the "baygar" and "Matrix Calculator" moments - it wouldn't have been the same without you. You are my family here.

However, I am also so grateful for my long-time friends. They actually sent me a parcel for my birthday and I don't really know what happened, but it only arrived to London on Friday. As there was nobody home, I had to pick it up at the deposit which is not really by the corner and always (except for today) closes at 4.30 p.m. So, I could only pick it up today. It was totally worth the waiting.:) It is not really the presents that make the difference (although I loved everything), but the simple fact that my friends make me feel loved and  let me know, at every moment of the way, they love me. And that is good enough for me, more than I could have asked for.

Thanks guys (new and old friends)! Love you all THIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIS MUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCH!

I'll leave you with the photos of the surprise package!

Adoro-vos IIIIIISTO TUUUUUUUUUUDOOOOO!

Ficam as fotografias da surpresa que me fizeram!:)

floating bookshop

During our stroll to Hackney we found out the most comfy and lovely bookshop ever: a Dutch barge turned into a bookshop! It's called "Word on the Water" and you can buy every kind of second hand books there: novels, biographies, dictionaries, technical books or even comics! The most amazing thing was the sort of fireplace it had inside, with the two relaxed cats getting warm on the sofa right beside it. You could have some tea inside, grab a book and read it by the fire while cuddling one of the cats. If you like the book, you can take it home for a great price (REALLY!). The owner is also extremely kind, so for all these reasons, this bookshop deserves a "MUST GO AGAIN" label for sure! By the way, if you're intending to see it with your own eyes, you should check where they are first, because it moves from Hackney, to Angel, then to Camden and finally to Paddington and then it returns finishing its route in Hackney again. However, they will stay in Hackney for the Christmas holiday. In case you'd like to make sure where it is at the moment, you can visit its Twitter account or its Facebook account. I'm sure you will love it!

an Atlantic storm...

... is passing over London tonight!

which means it's time to go to bed and listen to the wind whistling outside and knocking on our windows.
it's time to listen to the rain falling outside and
enjoy our warm bed sheets.

sunday, cold sunday

Yesterday we had a strolling day. We went to Hackney and London Fields and thought it is quite welcoming. However, we were expecting to go to Broadway Market (I had read at British Vogue it is a lovely place to go), but soon found out that it is only opened on Saturdays. At least we now have plans for Saturday. Anyway, I have lots to tell you about Hackney but that will have to wait until tomorrow.

Today I'm posting my Sunday outfit. It was very cold (AGAIN) so I thought: "Why not wear my vintage faux-fur coat today?" It was the best idea I could possibly have. It is so cozy and warm. All my outfit is actually very vintage-inspired and, well, it is made of some vintage pieces of clothing and accessories I've been buying since my arrival to London. I am officially addicted to Vintage and in London the access to those sort of things is so much easier than it was when I was back in Portugal! Hope you enjoy my photos!:)
